Health Care Solutions
1.1.1 Mobile Health Care Solutions
Healthcare professionals are among the nation's most
mobile workers, so there is demand for fast access to
healthcare information that is critical to decision
making and saves time in the workday. Although
healthcare professionals are interested in increased
efficiency and improved workflow, they are even more
interested in how wireless applications can reduce
medical errors, many of which caused by the
time-consuming, paper processes used throughout the
industry. Wireless applications meet these needs and
take advantage of devices that healthcare professionals
are already using: mobile phones, pagers, and PDAs.
Wireless healthcare solutions fall
into several categories:egories:
-
Point-of-Care Applications
-
Clinical Trial Data Collection
-

Hospital Information System (HIS)
The
Hospital Information System (HIS) is completely
integrated with Hospital Financial Information Systems (HFIS)
allowing important patient information to be shared,
including charges and ADT information. These systems
were developed to not only help hospitals manage patient
data, but also to help increase revenue, reduce
expenses, reduce risks, and improve quality.
This includes improving charge capture to reduce missed
or inaccurate charges, reducing medical records costs
with electronic signature capability and facilitated
access to the electronic patient record, and increasing
time with the patient using bedside documentation tools.
The system also helps in reducing potentially
life-threatening errors with multiple flags including
drug-drug interaction flags, drug-allergy flags,
duplicate order flags, and medication error flags.
